Medical service, defibrillators and pharmacies

T1 and T2 each have an airport medical service: if you feel unwell, ask at any Aena information point, and in an emergency call 112. There are defibrillators at 47 points across the two terminals.

The pharmacies are shops, separate from the medical service. T1 and T2 each have one, and La Vita parapharmacy also has a shop in both. Ask at an information desk where your terminal's pharmacy is and its opening hours.

Left luggage, trolleys and baggage desks

Excess Baggage looks after bags on Floor 0 of both terminals, around the clock in T1 and from 06:00 to 22:00 in T2. Trolleys stand throughout the terminals. Contacts, prices, wrapping and the lost-luggage desk of each handling agent are on baggage.

Travelling with children: pushchairs, child-seat trolleys and breastfeeding rooms

The airport lends pushchairs free of charge for getting around the Schengen boarding areas. Pick one up in T1 in boarding areas A, B (at the start of the pier and further along) and C, or in T2 in boarding areas R-S, S-U and W, and hand it back at the T1 Sky Center or in T2 boarding area S, known as La Rambla.

Baggage trolleys with a Maxi-Cosi child seat are lent free as well, subject to availability: ask at a staffed Aena information point, or use the phone on an unstaffed counter. They are kept in the check-in, boarding and reclaim areas: in T1 on Floor 1 (baggage reclaim, La Plaza, Sky Center, boarding area B) and Floor 3 (North and South docks, boarding area D), and in T2 in the T2A and T2B reclaim halls and the arrivals hall on Floor 0 and in boarding areas U, W-Y and S on Floor 1.

The breastfeeding rooms have comfortable chairs, a play area, changing tables and a microwave. They are in T1 at the Sky Center and in boarding area C on Floor 1, and in a boarding area on Floor 3; in T2, ask at an information desk, which can also point you to other baby-changing spots and family toilets.

Reduced mobility, hidden disabilities and accessible toilets

Aena's Barrier Free assistance is free: book it 48 hours ahead through your airline and Aena. The hidden disabilities badge, the WhatsApp contact for deaf passengers, accessible toilets and meeting points are on special assistance; Aena's paid escort service is on Meet & Assist.

Chapel and multi-faith room

Both are in T1 on Floor 1 and open from 06:00 to 22:30. The chapel holds Catholic masses, booked through the secretary of the bishopric (+34 936 327 630, [email protected]). The multi-faith room is in La Plaza, before security, so passengers from T2 can reach it on the shuttle; T2 has no room of its own. The Joan Miró lounge in the T1 non-Schengen area also has a prayer room for its guests.

Smoking areas, terraces and pet areas

Smoking is allowed only in the designated open-air areas after security: in T1 on the Floor 1 terraces in the North and South courtyards, and in T2 on the Floor 1 terrace. The courtyards also have restaurants, and the T2 terrace has a restaurant and a space for pets.

Four open-air lawns for pets, each with a water fountain, a waste bin and a post to tie the lead, are on T1 Floor 1, T1 Floor 3, T2 Floor 0 and T2 Floor 1, and one of the T1 courtyards has a pet area of its own. Whether an animal can fly with you is your airline's rule; the documents it needs to enter Spain are on customs.

Showers, lounges and ways to pass the wait

Air Rooms by Sleep & Fly, on T1 Floor 1, is open 24 hours, every day of the year. It has 21 rooms and 4 suites for a night, for day use of 3 or 6 hours, or for a 1-hour shower with bathrobe, slippers and shower kit; rooms have Wi-Fi and TV, and there is a business centre and a gym. Contact: +34 933 758 611, [email protected].

Aena's four VIP lounges are all after security, with walk-in entry from €48 per adult, and Pau Casals, Joan Miró and Canudas have showers. Which one your terminal and gate allow is on VIP lounges.

Reclining seats are on T1 Floor 3 and T2 Floor 1. Public pianos are on T1 Floor 1 and T2 Floor 1, and eight free arcade machines are spread over T1 Floor 1, T1 Floor 3 and T2 Floor 1. Drinking fountains are near most toilets, and vending machines across the terminals sell food and drinks, including gourmet machines from Enrique Tomás; some also sell face masks. For charging points and the free network, see Wi-Fi.

Police, customs and emergencies

The Policía Nacional, the Guardia Civil and the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) all have offices in the T1 Floor 3 check-in hall, open 24 hours, and the Mossos also on T2 Floor 1; their phone numbers are on lost and found. In an emergency, call 112. The Guardia Civil firearms office is in T1, module P30; its hours are on baggage.

Customs has posts in the arrivals areas of T1, T2A, T2B and T2C, and in the T1 transit area between non-Schengen and Schengen flights. Arriving from outside the EU, take the green or the red channel depending on whether you carry goods to declare, such as cash of €10,000 or more; if you need the customs office itself, ask at an information desk. Non-EU residents claiming a VAT refund validate their forms at the DIVA kiosks in the T1 and T2 check-in areas before checking in the goods. Allowances and the refund step by step are on customs.

Post, passport photos, fuel and bikes

Correos postboxes stand landside in both terminals: on T1 Floor 3, in T2B on Floor 0 and on T2 Floor 0. The photo booth in the T1 Floor 3 check-in hall prints six passport-size photos in 15 seconds and gives you a downloadable file, for €10, paid in coins, notes or by card.

The petrol station at T2, on Floor 0, opens from 06:00 to 22:00 and sells petrol, diesel and LPG, with a tunnel car wash and a shop. Motorcycles can be left free in unsupervised areas at T2 (T2A-B, T2B-1, T2B-2, T2B-C and T2C). A cycle lane reaches the airport, with bike parking, a Bicibox module at T1 and bike areas at T2B, T2C, the Corporate Terminal and Cargoparc.

Lost something at the airport?

Aena's lost property office for both terminals is on T1 Floor 1, open Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 18:00 (+34 932 596 440). What you leave on the plane, and checked bags that do not arrive, are for your airline. Taxis, the Metro and trains each have their own route: see lost and found.
