Fast Track (T1) and Fast Lane (T2) at Barcelona-El Prat: priority security, prices and hours

Priority security at Barcelona-El Prat depends on your terminal: in T1 it is called Fast Track, costs €16.55 per person and runs from 04:00 to 23:00 on Floor 3, while in T2 it is called Fast Lane, costs €12.35 and runs 24 hours at the T2B and T2C checkpoints. Each pass covers one person, one entry and one terminal, and it shortens the security queue only, not passport control or boarding. If you want someone to walk you through the airport, see Meet & Assist; for somewhere to wait after security, the VIP lounges.

Fast Track T1 is closed from 23:00 to 04:00

For a T1 departure that reaches security during the night, the standard lanes are the only option. The Fast Lane in T2 stays open 24 hours.

Quick answer

Barcelona airport has two paid priority security products: Fast Track in Terminal 1 (Floor 3, 04:00 to 23:00, €16.55 per person) and Fast Lane in Terminal 2 (T2B and T2C checkpoints, 24 hours, €12.35 per person). Buy the one for your own terminal on Aena's website, in the Aena app or on Aena's VIP services website, then scan the QR code and your boarding pass at the door reader. A pass is one entry, valid 3 months, and gives priority at security only. Some airlines include it with business class or loyalty status.

Fast Track or Fast Lane: what your terminal has

Barcelona-El Prat sells two different priority security products, and the terminal you fly from decides which one you get. Fast Track exists only in Terminal 1 (T1): it is a separate, exclusive checkpoint with its own entrance, so you are screened apart from the main queue. Fast Lane exists only in Terminal 2 (T2): it is a priority lane that brings you to the front of the ordinary checkpoints in the T2B and T2C sections.

The two are not interchangeable. T1 and T2 are separate buildings about 4 km apart by road, with no walkway and no airside link, so a pass bought for one terminal cannot be used in the other. As a rule, Vueling, Iberia, LEVEL and most long-haul and full-service airlines fly from T1, Ryanair and Transavia mainly from T2B, and easyJet mainly from T2C. Aena assigns airlines to terminals and this changes, so check your boarding pass before you buy anything.

If you end up at the wrong terminal, take the free 24-hour shuttle and allow 15 to 20 minutes door to door; stops and timings are on the terminal page.

T1: Floor 3, 04:00 to 23:00

Check-in in T1 is on Floor 3, split into the North and South docks, and the Fast Track entrance is on the same floor, at the way into the boarding area. Follow the signs reading "Fast Track / Acceso prioritario".

Past the checkpoint, Schengen flights board from gates A, B and C on Floor 1. Flights to the rest of the world use gates D and E on Floor 3, behind passport control: follow the signs for passport control and gates D-E.

T2: Fast Lane at T2B and at T2C, open all day and night

T2 is one terminal in three sections. T2A is not used for departures, so the two Fast Lane points are at the security checkpoints of T2B and T2C, on Floor 1 above the check-in halls of Floor 0. Both run 24 hours, and one Fast Lane T2 pass covers either point. Neither product had a closure in force in October 2026.

The gates in T2 are R, S and U for Schengen flights and W and Y for the rest, plus a separate non-Schengen area M. Use the Fast Lane at the checkpoint the signs give for your gate, and ask staff at the lane if you are unsure which side it leads to.

How much it costs and where to buy it

Fast Track T1 costs €16.55 and Fast Lane T2 costs €12.35. Each purchase covers one person for one entry, and adults and children pay the same, apart from the free places for small children at T1.

Buy it on Aena's website, in the Aena app or on Aena's VIP services website. Buy only through Aena, not from resellers. Members of Aena Club, Aena's free membership programme, may get a discount while the online sale is active, depending on the plan; the checkout shows whether it applies to you.

One pass is good for a single entry within 3 months of the purchase date. The checkout asks for your flight date, time and number, so the access may be tied to that flight: read the terms in your basket before you pay.

Who gets it included or goes through free

Some airlines include it for business-class passengers and holders of associated airline loyalty cards. The airline decides who qualifies, so ask your airline, not the airport, before you rely on it.

At the T1 Fast Track, children aged 5 and under go through free with an adult who is entitled to use it, whether that adult paid or has it through the airline. For T2, check the conditions in the basket when you buy.

Lounge and bank cards such as Priority Pass, LoungeKey and DragonPass may offer priority security as their own benefit, with their own conditions; check your card's app for the terminal and the product it covers. Aena's paid Meet & Assist escort includes priority access at security, so you do not need a separate pass if you have booked it.

Using it on the day: QR code first, then boarding pass

  1. Check in and confirm the terminal on your boarding pass: T1 means Fast Track, T2 means Fast Lane.
  2. Have the QR code from your purchase ready, in the Aena app, in the confirmation e-mail or on a printout, and your boarding pass next to it.
  3. In T1, go to Floor 3 and follow the Fast Track signs into the boarding area. In T2, go up to the T2B or T2C checkpoint on Floor 1 and take the Fast Lane.
  4. At the door reader, scan the QR code first and then the boarding pass.
  5. After screening, carry on to passport control for a flight outside the Schengen area; otherwise head straight to your gate.

Each person in your group scans their own QR code and boarding pass. A child aged 5 or under who goes free at T1 passes with the adult.

Liquids and laptops: the T1 Fast Track is the exception

Only at the T1 Fast Track may laptops and liquids stay in your bag. At the T2 Fast Lane take them out unless staff or signs say otherwise, and the 100 ml limit applies in every lane. The security page has the full rules.

What priority security does not cover

Fast Track and Fast Lane shorten the queue at security screening only. They give no priority at passport control or at boarding, and they do not protect you if you miss the flight. Aena's conditions state that using priority access does not exempt you from going through security in the time your ticket requires before departure.

On a flight outside the Schengen area, the minutes you save can disappear at passport control: gates D and E in T1, W, Y and M in T2. How early to arrive, and how the EU Entry/Exit System works there, is on the security and passport control page.

Neither product exists on arrival: there is no priority at passport control, customs or baggage reclaim when you land. At quiet times the standard lanes can move just as fast. Travelling with small children? Ask staff at the checkpoint which lane to use.

Other services: Meet & Assist, lounges and free assistance

For a member of staff to walk you through the airport, Meet & Assist includes priority at security; for a seat after screening, the VIP lounges start at €48.00 per adult. Passengers with reduced mobility or a disability need no pass at all: Aena's free Barrier Free assistance has its own priority handling, and the special assistance page explains how to book it.

Travel tips

  • Save the QR code in the Aena app and keep the confirmation e-mail as a back-up in case the app will not open at the reader.
  • Buying for a family at T1? Leave children aged 5 and under out of the basket and save the fee.
  • Buying for several people? Send each traveller their own QR code before you reach the reader.
  • In T2, check your gate letter on the screens before going up to security, so you pick the checkpoint that leads to it.
  • For a non-Schengen flight, keep your passport in your hand after the screening belt: passport control is the next queue.
