Lost property at Barcelona-El Prat Airport: who has your item and how to get it back
Anything found in the terminals or car parks of Barcelona-El Prat goes to Aena's lost property office on T1 Floor 1, which serves T1 and T2: call +34 932 596 440 or write to [email protected], Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 18:00. Items left on the plane are your airline's business, and things lost in a taxi, on the Metro or on a train each go to a different organisation. A checked bag that never arrived is a claim for the airline, explained on baggage.

Lost in the terminal: Aena's lost property office on T1 Floor 1
Aena, the airport operator, has one lost property office (objetos encontrados, objectes trobats in Catalan) for the whole of Barcelona-El Prat. It is in Terminal 1, Floor 1, and keeps what is found in T1, in the three sections of T2 and in Aena's car parks. T2 has no office of its own: from T2, take the free shuttle bus, which runs day and night and takes about 14 minutes to T1.

When you report a loss, describe the item precisely, say where and when you lost it, and give the serial number of a phone, laptop or camera, which makes matching much quicker. Note the reference you are given. To collect, go to the office in person with photo ID and that reference. Reporting and collecting are free.
If someone else will collect for you, or you have already left Spain and want the item sent, ask the office how it works and what sending costs; ask too how long it keeps items nobody claims. Aena's general information line, +34 913 211 000, answers 24 hours a day but does not hold lost property.
Left in a security tray or at passport control
The security checkpoints are part of the area Aena manages, so anything left in a tray is normally passed to the office on T1 Floor 1. Items taken from you at screening because they are not allowed through are not given back.
Passport control is staffed by the Policía Nacional. A passport or ID card left at the booths is dealt with by the Policía Nacional office (see police at the airport). If your passport is missing, contact your consulate too about a replacement travel document.
Left on the plane: your airline or its handling agent
Contact the operating airline's customer service or lost-property channel with the flight number, the date and your seat, plus a description or photo of the item. If you are still at the airport, the airline and handling-agent desks in T1 and their phone numbers are listed on airport services.
A checked bag that never arrived is not lost property
A suitcase that does not appear on the carousel, comes out damaged or has been opened is a claim for your airline: file a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) at its handling agent's desk in the reclaim hall before you leave. The desks and the claim deadlines are on baggage.
Theft: report it to the police
Report a theft to the police with a formal report (denuncia); the Mossos d'Esquadra are Catalonia's police. In an emergency, call 112.

Lost on the Aerobús, the Metro, a bus or a Rodalies train
Aerobús
For the Aerobús, line A1 to T1 and A2 to T2, contact Aerobús through its website and give the line, the date, the time and the direction of your trip.
Metro and TMB city buses
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) runs the Metro, including line L9 Sud with its Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 stations, and the city buses, the 46 among them. Its free line, 900 701 149, takes lost-property calls, and its customer service points take reports in person. Items nobody claims are later passed on to the municipal office at Carrer de la Ciutat 2.
Other metropolitan buses
AMB metropolitan buses are run by several companies. Contact the company that runs your line, or AMB; unclaimed items also end up at the municipal office.
Rodalies trains
Rodalies, including the R2 Nord to Aeroport station at T2, is run by Renfe. Call its lost-property line, 900 410 041, or ask at Renfe's customer centre, the Centre d'Atenció al Viatger at Barcelona Sants station. Things found on trains stay with Renfe and are not passed to the municipal office.
Left in a taxi or a VTC car
Items found in Barcelona's black-and-yellow taxis go to the municipal lost property office, the Oficina de Troballes at Carrer de la Ciutat 2. Collecting needs an appointment, booked on the city's electronic office (cita prèvia amb l'Oficina de Troballes) or on the city information line, 010.
To trace a particular car, the metropolitan taxi authority (IMET, part of AMB) and the taxi company or radio dispatcher need its licence number, which is printed on the receipt. If you booked through a company or an app, contact it as well.
Uber, Cabify, Bolt and the other VTC services have no lost-property office at the airport or in the city. Use the lost item option in the app to reach the driver; if the driver hands the item in, it may still reach the municipal office.
Left in a hire car or an airport car park
For something left in a hire car, go to the rental company: its desk is in the T1 arrivals hall on Floor 1 (OK Mobility in La Plaza) or in the T2B arrivals hall on Floor 0, and its phone number is in your booking confirmation.
Aena runs the car parks at both terminals, so whatever is found there, or between the car park and the terminal, goes to the lost property office on T1 Floor 1. A problem with the parking payment itself is for Aena's parking customer service.
Barcelona's municipal lost property office, Carrer de la Ciutat 2
The Oficina de Troballes (Objetos Perdidos), run by Barcelona City Council, receives what is found in taxis, on TMB Metro trains and buses, in the street and in postboxes. It works by appointment only. Items are kept for a limited time; ask how long when you book.
